Securing Your Developer Account

For increased security, we recommend that you configure multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help protect your Gentrack Cloud Developer Portal account. MFA adds security because it requires users to type a unique authentication code from an approved authentication device when they access Gentrack Cloud Developer Portal.

Gentrack Cloud Developer Portal supports a security token-based MFA system where a MFA application generates a six-digit numeric code based upon a time-synchronized one-time password algorithm.

Prepare for MFA

Download one of these recommended applications on your trusted mobile device.

After you install the application, make sure that your device is set to the correct time for your time zone. Otherwise, the authentication codes that you receive may not work when you enter them into Gentrack Cloud Developer Portal.

Enable MFA

  1. Log in to Gentrack Cloud Developer Portal with your username and password.
  2. Click your name in the top-right corner then select Profile.
  3. Click Enable MFA in your profile page.
  4. Open your authenticator application and scan the QR code on screen.
  5. Type the code generated by the authenticator application in the Authenticator code field then click Submit.

MFA is now enabled. Subsequent logins will require a MFA code

Replace a device

If your authenticator application supports restore from backup functionality, it is highly recommended that you choose that instead.

  1. Log in to Gentrack Cloud Developer Portal with your username and password.
  2. In the MFA code screen, type the code generated by your authenticator application from your old device.
  3. Click your name in the top-right corner then select Profile.
  4. Click Disable MFA in your profile page.
  5. Enter your password to complete the process.
  6. Click Enable MFA in your profile page.
  7. Use the authenticator application on your new device to scan the QR code.
  8. Type the code generated by the authenticator application in the Authenticator code field then click Submit.

Recover your account

  1. Contact your organisation administrator or Gentrack account manager to disable MFA for your account.
  2. Log in with your username and password once MFA has been disabled.
  3. Follow the steps in to associate your new device with your account.

For organisation administrators

Disable MFA

If a user in your organisation has lost access to their authenticator application, you can disable their MFA to allow them to login with username and password only.

  1. Log in to Gentrack Cloud Developer Portal.
  2. If you belong to multiple organisations, make sure the correct one is selected in the organisation drop-down list.
  3. Under Manage Access, click Users
  4. Click Disable MFA for the user whose MFA you need to disable.
  5. Enter your password to complete the process.
